Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. And to celebrate, we recall a story we posted in 2013 about Harold Mendenhall. Mendenhall’s kindness is unique. When we originally reported on Mendenhall, in 35 years, he had given 100 gallons of his blood to help save lives!

An excerpt from the 2013 original story:

He started on 7/7/77.

Seven, he says, is one of his lucky numbers.

It certainly has been for the hundreds of people Mendenhall’s blood has saved since that first pint 36 years ago.
